I think that the S.S. United States is a metaphor for America today. We were at our peak when this ship was at its peak . American designed, American materials, American labor. Fast, sleek, lean. Now we are gutted out inside…we still look like America from the outside, albiet rusty, potholed, and picked clean. Now, we’re both up for sale cheap to the highest bidder. Think about it.
